AMY HARDMAN

Whilst adept at delivering designs in any required style, Amy’s own style leans towards the organic aesthetic. Shape, texture and form are her focal point, with soft and earthy tones being her preference. A love of nature seeps into her own home projects, as well as a nod to both the old and the new. She is a keen antique and art collector and loves to add a mixture of characterful yet timeless simplicity with a contemporary and unexpected twist.

Every project we work on is totally unique and requires a different approach in order to maximise the potential of the space – Amy’s versatility enables her to adapt to deliver this potential and together with her team, come together to produce something really incredible.

“From a very young age, I was always fascinated by colour, texture and style so moving into Interior Design was a natural progression for me."

"I have a deep-rooted passion for art - mainly impressionism and abstract - colour, architecture, fashion, pattern and travel.

In my work I strive for innovation and perfection, and I take a lot of my inspiration and aspirations from my favourite designers and artists.  These masters include the exceptional Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders, known to many as the Lady Gaga of the design world, the renowned Ralph Lauren for his exquisite, timeless designs in both fashion and for the home, Tim Walker, who in my opinion is one of the greatest modern day fashion photographers, and lastly Picasso for his surrealism with the exploratory use of bold colour and his mythical interpretation of everyday objects.  I carry their inspiration with me and portray it through my interior design.”

A NOTE FROM AMY...

THE TEAM

KATE

Kate has been working at Amy Nicholas since 2015, starting as a Junior Designer then carving out a new role as our Studio Manager. She deals with all aspects of our small business, from HR to Accounts, and from product sourcing to sampling. Interiors-wise, she has a particular penchant for quirky wallpapers and chunky textured fabrics and loves an oversized armchair!

With previous experience in customer facing roles, both in the Interiors industry (Brian Yates) and the airline and giftware sectors, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the Studio, as well as the personal skills and diplomacy only acquired after years in customer service, oh and after having 4 children!

In addition to her love of interiors, Kate also enjoys running, all things arty, cooking (especially the eating bit) and spending time with her family. She’s trying hard to enjoy football, as with 4 footballing boys and a husband it does seem prudent - but it’s currently proving unachievable!

MEGAN

Megan joined the team at Amy Nicholas in September 2022 as an Interior Designer. She works closely with Amy and Kate to help deliver stunning design projects. She’s our Technical Detail whizz, and can whip up an elevation or an electrical plan in no time! Specifying and installing bespoke products is a particular interest of Meg’s, as each one adds a unique touch to a scheme, and a talking point for the client.

Studying Interior Design at York University gave Megan the opportunity to explore contrasting design styles and really push the boundaries of conceptual design. Thanks to this experience, and her own distinctive style, she has developed into an exciting young designer – she thinks outside the box and has developed her own timeless yet contemporary approach. She is particularly interested in natural materials and botanical features. Kelly Wearstler is her current favourite designer because of her exploration of form and texture, and general amazing and enviable style!

In her spare time Megan enjoys walking in the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales with her two adorable dogs, Rosko and Sasha. She’s gearing up to walk the Three Peaks, loves a good  music gig and art museum, and makes the best chocolate brownies and cookies in the Ribble Valley.

ROBYN

With a degree in Illustration and Animation in the bag, Robyn also comes to us with a wealth of graphic design experience. From re-branding companies, to producing commissioned personalized digital art and designing bespoke wedding stationary – she’s our resident expert in CAD design with a flair for the sublime.

Much of her previous experience has been in producing customised work for clients based on detailed briefs, so she is second to none in getting to the heart of a project and really ascertaining what the vision is, whether that’s designing stand-out marketing materials or delivering mood boards to bring that vision to life.

As our newest recruit, Robyn is the welcome extra string to our ever-improving bow, seeing things from a different angle, but still with the same passion for interior design that fuels the rest of the team.

Quick to learn and adept at putting her hand to any aspect of the interiors realm (a handy trait on site visits) she is a perfectionist of the highest order and believes everything has its place – much to the amusement of her family, who have been instructed not to move the “decorative” throws!!!

Robyn is an excellent communicator and organiser, loves a “soft, simple and subtle” design scheme, and, luckily (given the dogs, chickens and sheep around the Studio) is also an animal lover.
