At Amy Nicholas, our multidisciplinary team is supported by a trusted network of skilled craftspeople, specialist contractors and exceptional suppliers, allowing us to deliver beautifully considered projects from initial concept through to styling at completion.
Our approach is highly personal. We believe the most successful interiors begin with understanding our clients, how they live, what they are drawn to and what they want their space to become. Communication and collaboration sit at the heart of our process, enabling us to develop a clear creative vision while guiding our clients confidently through every stage of their project.
We believe beauty and functionality should exist effortlessly alongside one another. While a sense of timelessness and longevity underpins our work, no two Amy Nicholas interiors are the same. Each project is individually conceived in response to its architecture, setting and our client, allowing us to create spaces that range from quietly understated to confidently expressive, while always retaining a sense of refinement and authenticity.
Our strength lies in the collective expertise of our team. Interior design extends far beyond the decorative; it is about understanding proportion, flow, materiality, lighting, craftsmanship and the relationship between every element within a space. From bespoke joinery and carefully considered lighting to furniture, textiles, art and objects, each detail is considered and selected for the part it plays within the wider composition.
This considered approach extends to the way we present our designs. Through detailed space planning, technical drawings, elevations and photorealistic CGI, we allow our clients to fully understand and experience their interiors before they are realised, providing clarity, confidence and a shared vision from the outset.
Above all, our role is to make the design journey feel as considered as the finished interior: professional, collaborative and entirely personal.
OUR HISTORY
The story of Amy Nicholas began in 2005, when founder Amy Hardman took a leap into the world of interiors. With a background in Audio Visual, Home Cinemas and Automation, Amy quickly discovered that her real passion lay beyond the technology, in understanding how people lived, reimagining spaces and helping clients create homes that felt entirely their own.
What began as an interiors shop in rural Lancashire gradually evolved into something much greater. As projects became larger and more ambitious, Amy Nicholas developed into a full-service interior design studio, building a reputation for highly considered, individual interiors and a personal approach to design.
Over the following two decades, the studio continued to evolve, working on an increasingly diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, from private residences and luxury developments to boutique hotels, restaurants and bars. Throughout that growth, the philosophy remained constant: to combine creativity with professionalism, exceptional attention to detail and a genuinely personal relationship with every client.
In 2018, Amy's entrepreneurial spirit led to the creation of Tradescant, a distinctive collection of fabrics and wallpapers inspired by the natural world. Designed in-house and printed in the UK on beautiful natural linens, the collection provided another outlet for the studio's fascination with colour, pattern and materiality.
A significant new chapter began in 2025, when Megan Craven became a Partner in Amy Nicholas. Having joined the studio in 2022, Megan's creative and technical strengths had become integral to the practice. Her partnership with Amy brought together complementary skills, a shared design philosophy and a collective ambition for the future, providing the foundation for the next evolution of the studio.
2026 marked another defining year. In June, Amy Nicholas moved into its new Ribble Valley studio, creating a considered home for the growing team, material library and expanding creative practice.
The same year also saw the launch of LAYER, our luxury homeware collection, founded by Amy and Megan as a natural extension of their work in interiors. Born from years spent searching for those elusive finishing pieces that transform a beautiful room into an exceptional one, LAYER brings together original designs and carefully curated objects chosen for their craftsmanship, materiality and enduring appeal.
More than twenty years after Amy Nicholas began, the studio continues to move forward with the same curiosity and ambition that shaped its beginnings. The scale of our projects may have grown and our creative world expanded, but our values remain unchanged: exceptional design, a highly personal service and an unwavering commitment to creating interiors with character, integrity and longevity.
And, as our history has taught us, evolution is very much part of the story.
