Founder of Amy Nicholas, Amy is the creative force behind the studio, with an instinctive approach to design shaped by a love of nature, art, antiques and beautifully crafted objects. While adept at interpreting a diverse range of styles and responding individually to the architecture and character of each property, Amy’s personal aesthetic leans towards the organic. Shape, texture and form are central to her work, with a natural affinity for earthy palettes, tactile materials and interiors that feel layered, warm and quietly sophisticated. Her designs often explore the relationship between old and new, combining antiques, art and pieces with history alongside contemporary forms and unexpected details. The result is an aesthetic that feels collected rather than contrived; characterful and timeless, yet always with an element of surprise. Amy believes that no two projects should ever feel the same. Each begins with its own architecture, setting and story, requiring a different creative response to unlock its full potential. Her versatility and intuitive understanding of proportion, materiality and spatial flow allow her to move confidently between aesthetics while retaining the considered attention to detail that has become synonymous with Amy Nicholas. Away from the studio, Amy is a mother of four and happiest in the countryside with her husband and her dogs. Weekends are invariably spent on the sidelines of hockey, rugby and football pitches or mountain biking with her children, providing a welcome contrast to studio life and a constant source of energy and inspiration. An entrepreneur at heart, Amy’s creativity extends beyond interior design. Her restless curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit have led her to, alongside Megan, develop LAYER, the studio’s luxury homeware brand, and Tradescant, a collection of distinctive linen fabrics and wallpapers, allowing her to explore pattern, material and product design through another creative lens. Whether designing an interior, sourcing an extraordinary antique or developing a new collection, Amy is driven by the same philosophy: to create things with character, integrity and longevity, and never simply for the sake of following a trend.

Megan joined Amy Nicholas Interiors in 2022 and became a partner in the studio in January 2025, taking on the role of Creative Director. Working closely alongside Amy, she is instrumental in shaping the creative direction of the studio and delivering interiors that feel considered, distinctive and beautifully resolved. With an exceptional eye for detail and a natural understanding of proportion, materiality and form, Megan has an ability to take a creative concept and refine it into a cohesive, highly detailed interior. As the studio’s resident technical expert, she brings precision to every scheme, seamlessly translating design intent into bespoke joinery, architectural detailing, elevations, lighting and electrical plans. Megan has a particular passion for bespoke design and the craftsmanship behind it. She loves creating and sourcing pieces that feel entirely individual to a project, those unexpected details, beautiful materials and one-of-a-kind elements that give a space its identity and quietly set it apart. A graduate of Interior Design at York St John University, Megan’s early exploration of contrasting styles and conceptual design helped shape an aesthetic that is both timeless and contemporary. Her work is characterised by natural materials, rich texture and subtle botanical influences, with inspiration drawn from Kelly Wearstler’s confident approach to form, scale and materiality. Outside the studio, Megan is happiest exploring the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales with her dog, Rex, and is currently preparing to take on the Three Peaks. A lover of live music and travel, she is equally at home discovering a new city, invariably returning with a camera roll full of interiors, architecture and inspiration.

An integral member of the Amy Nicholas team, Kate has been with the studio since 2015, initially joining as a Junior Designer before naturally carving out the role of Studio Manager. More than a decade later, she sits at the heart of the business, ensuring both the studio and the many moving parts behind our projects run seamlessly. With a role as varied as it is essential, Kate oversees everything from HR and accounts to procurement, product sourcing and sampling, bringing an exceptional level of organisation, knowledge and calm to studio life. Her background in customer-facing roles, including within the interiors industry at Brian Yates, as well as the airline and giftware sectors, has given her an innate understanding of people and a wonderfully diplomatic approach — skills undoubtedly honed further by raising four children. Despite stepping away from a purely design-focused role, Kate’s love of interiors remains firmly intact. She has a particular penchant for unexpected wallpapers, beautifully chunky textured fabrics and an unapologetically oversized armchair, and has an instinctive eye for pieces that bring personality and individuality to a scheme. Her longstanding knowledge of Amy Nicholas, our suppliers, clients and the way we work makes Kate an invaluable part of the studio. Dependable, considered and endlessly resourceful, she is often the person quietly making everything happen behind the scenes. Away from the studio, Kate enjoys running, anything creative, cooking, although admittedly the eating is her preferred part, and spending time with her family. With four football-playing boys and a football-loving husband, she continues to make a valiant effort to embrace the beautiful game herself.
